Edison *Edison, NJ* About the role *AAK is seeking a highly skilled
and experienced Sr. Buyer to join the AAK-USA Procurement team.
Reporting directly to the Procurement Manager, this position
partners with Engineering, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, and Finance
to capture the business requirements, goals, and objectives to
successfully source, negotiate, and meet expectations related to
direct and indirect spend that will achieve company objectives. The
ideal candidate will possess in-depth knowledge of Supplier
Management, Category Management, Spend Analysis, Purchase Price
Variance, Contract Management, and Procurement Policies. *
Responsibilities *The senior buyer will perform both tactical and
strategic purchasing functions required to support the needs of the
organization.Strategic sourcing: ---Collaborate with internal and
external stakeholders to determine procurement needs and
specifications.---Demonstrate procurement excellence by negotiating
contracts, improve prices, terms of business with suppliers and
review opportunities to deliver savings, utilizing procurement best
practice tools and methods.---Monitor market trends and stay up to
date on new developments and innovations in procurement processes
and technology.---Evaluate supplier capabilities, identify areas
for improvement to continually drive performance and business
results. ---Develop policies, checklists, or other documents that
describe AAK's technical, quality, service, or reliability
standards.---Provide input into the S&OP process.Supplier
Management: ---Identify areas of risk in the supply base and makes
recommendations to mitigate. ---Monitor supplier and
subcontractors' performance by ensuring that product is delivered
as scheduled and meets specifications, maintaining appropriate
files and records of meetings with suppliers to ensure company
requirements are met and that the supplier is aware of their
performance.---Assist in the development and maintenance of
supplier scorecards. ---Develop and maintain performance metrics to
measure the effectiveness of procurement processes.---Partner with
Accounts Payable to resolve invoice discrepancies.---Support our
Compliance Dept by providing supplier information to be updated in
our Supplier Information Management System.---Participate in
Supplier assessments & Audits supporting our Quality Assurance
team. ---Ensure compliance with AAK's ethical principles and
adherence to relevant laws and regulations.Tactical
sourcing:---Review and analyze purchase requisitions, prepare bid
specifications, issue bid requests and review quotations.
---Examine and analyze departmental purchase requisitions for
completeness and accuracy of information.---Prepare purchase orders
and communicates them to relevant parties.---Interpret purchasing
procedures to departments and vendors, as a specialist in assigned
material categories, which require a degree of technical
knowledge.---Purchase miscellaneous supplies, such as production,
sanitation, PPE, and office supplies. ---Contact vendors to obtain
product or service information such as price, availability, and
delivery schedule.---Maintain procurement records and update
supplier specifications, artwork files, spec, supplier files, etc.
* About you * Bachelor's degree in business, Supply Chain
Management, or a related field.5+ years of related procurement
experience including purchasing, inventory control, contract
negotiation, supply management, supplier relationships, basics of
Cost Accounting, and tracking budget expenses.Experience in
strategic supplier relationship managementAbility to work
effectively in a team and lead cross-functional projects.Proven
track record of successfully negotiating contracts and achieving
cost savings targets.Experience in working with Contract
Manufacturers is a plus.Strong knowledge of Category Management,
Spend Analysis and PPV principles.Strong knowledge of Procurement
Policies, standards, and processesKnowledge of MRP, Master Data,
Scorecard systems and processesSustainability sourcing
awarenessFamiliarity with food safety standards and
regulations.Ability to respond consistently with a high degree of
initiative to resolve issues or complex problems that may
arise.This position requires the use of initiative and independent
judgment.Intermediate to advanced computer skills. Proficient with
MS Office suite, to include advanced Excel skills, and other
work-related software. (SAP)Some domestic travel might be required.
