Job Description:

Business Analyst. This is an excellent opportunity to join our
Finance team in Jersey City, NJ. Your Role This position will be
responsible for all financial aspects related to assigned branches
within the Contract Logistics business unit, providing support to
the Senior Business Controller, Distribution Center
Managers/General Managers, and Geographical Directors. The role
should act as a business partner for assigned branches, with a
focus on developing/improving the financial health of the business
unit by mitigating financial risks, all the while ensuring the
financial integrity and quality of the financial reporting. Key
tasks of this role include, but are not limited to, month end close
procedures, variance and profitability analysis, annual target and
quarterly forecast completion, training and development of local
finance support staff, RFP pricing reviews, and ad-hoc projects.
Your Responsibilities
- Independently process month end closing procedures to ensure
accurate revenue and cost recognition and result presentation while
managing any balance sheet exposures, be responsible for the
financial integrity of the monthly results and drive continuous
improvement of financial reporting regarding data quality,
completeness, and relevancy.
- Provide the DCM/GM with tools to prepare an accurate forecast
(annual Target and quarterly forecasts) and prepare financial
reports for both local and central management, ensure compliance
with internal guidelines in all financial matters such as credit
control, billing, accounts receivable, purchasing, accounts
payable, accruals, and deferrals and oversee purchase order process
to ensure compliance with internal guidelines while driving process
improvements.
- Ensure accuracy of statistical information (i.e. client P&L
accuracy, space, etc.), work with sites (DCM/GM and Local Finance)
to develop financial knowledge, both general accounting knowledge
and Kuehne+Nagel specific standards/systems and support the
Distribution Center Manager s (DCMs) or General Managers (GMs) in
all financial matters and various Ad hoc projects.
- Assist in preparation of individual and consolidated forecasts
and analysis of financial results in conjunction with Distribution
Center Managers/General Managers, Geographical Director, and Senior
Business Controller and monitor investment budget via post
investment analysis utilizing Budget Tracker.
- Monitor business development in terms of productivities,
volumes, costs, and budget to actual variances, and monitor and
report financial KPI performance and analyze business profitability
in line with Kuehne + Nagel standards, ensure all authority levels
are adhered to, and ensure compliance with corporate guidelines in
all areas.
- Prepare business justification requests for investments
including analysis of financial impact and support purchasing
decisions; ascertain areas of cost reduction to optimize purchasing
decisions. Prepare Business Investment Applications (BIAs) for new
business opportunities and prepare and distribute daily/weekly
P&L files. Your Skills and Experiences
- At a minimum, Bachelor s Degree in Accounting or Finance and
MBA preferred, but not required.
- Minimum of 5+ years working experience in Finance or Site
Controlling Environment.
- Experience in logistics, distribution, or warehouse environment
and basic understanding of the Contract Logistics business.
- High standards of confidentiality to handle sensitive
information. Self-starter with excellent problem solving skills and
analytical skills, the ability to work overtime as needed, and the
ability to travel.
- Taking complex financial data and transposing it into a clear
overview for non-financial team members and in-depth understanding
of financial and accounting concepts.
- Ability to relay information to non-financial personnel and the
ability to operate in a matrix environment to effectively
communicate at multiple levels within the business.
- Should have strong operational knowledge related to MS Office
(Excel, Access, Word, PowerPoint & Outlook) and
- Datawatch Monarch and knowledge of ACON New of advantage. Good
