Insp?r Senior Living, Maplewood Senior Living’s new brand of world-class, urban senior living properties, is now hiring Bartenders for its new Insp?r Carnegie Hill property. Insp?r Carnegie Hill is located on the Upper East Side and stands 23 stories with 215 residential units. It will offer assisted living, enhanced care and memory care with a unique and innovative Integrated Care Model. This is an exciting opportunity to be a part of a brand-new development and care delivery model, the first of its kind in New York City!

The Bartender Role:  Prepares beverages requested by residents and guests according to standard operating procedures, and to provide courteous, prompt table-side service to residents and guests.  The bartender must provide an atmosphere of welcome and warmth generated by a sincere concern for all patrons.  Prepares and serves beverages in a timely and accurate manner following recipe specifications with a consistent presentation using fresh garnishes. Bartenders are required to clearly record all beverages purchased and assign them to the correct resident. 

  • Provides outstanding customer service to all residents, family members, responsible persons, and visitors of residents in the community 
  • Maintains professional appearance at all times
  • Completes opening/closing duties according to standards set forth 
  • Prepares drinks for residents and guests using recipes provided, presents drinks and records accurately
  • Records any issuance of food or beverage into point of sale system
  • Has full knowledge of entire menu, as well as daily specials, desserts, etc. 
  • Provides attentive service, focusing on residents’ and guests’ needs 
  • Clears and cleans tables when residents and guests leave, return dishes/glasses to be washed 
  • Washes all glassware and maintain a sanitary environment in accordance with local health codes 
  • At no time shall a drink be served to any associate on the floor unless with prior approval from the General Manager  
  • Completes daily beverage inventory and issue requisitions to maintain par levels as needed, using full bottle for empty method 
  • Monitors residents and guests for intoxication and report such findings to immediate supervisor, General Manager or Director of Nursing immediately 
  • Keeps immediate supervisor fully informed of all problems or matters requiring his or her attention 
  • Ensures compliance with all local liquor laws, and health & sanitation regulations 
  • Ensures that all side work is completed before leaving property and all restock and cleaning is performed at close of shift 
  • Maintains records according to policy and participates in on-going in-service and training requirements 
  • Follows emergency procedures and understands the safety practices and procedures 
  • Carries out other duties as assigned 

 

Education/Experience/Licensure/Requirements: 

  • High School diploma or equivalent required 
  • Previous bartending experience required 
  • ServSafe & TIPS or similar acceptable alcohol training Certificate preferred  
  • Experience and passion in working with seniors 
  • Experience with point of sale systems preferred
  • Able to maintain positive working relationships with residents, their families, peers and other staff members    
  • Able to convey and understand information and ideas in English  
  • Able to perform tasks which may be physically demanding such as pushing, bending and lifting 
  • Be effective in handling problems in the workplace, including anticipating, preventing, identifying, and solving problems as necessary   
  • Work well in stressful, high pressure situations and be able to maintain composure and objectivity  
  • Be effective at listening to, understanding, and clarifying the concerns and issues raised by residents and guests    
  • Able to maintain positive working relationships with residents, their families, peers and other staff members   
  • Must be authorized to legally work in the United States.  Criminal background check required
