In Store Help -
Student would be responsible for helping keep the store neat
during opening hours. Duties include picking up fallen clothes and
replacing them on hangers, organizing racks of clothes, organizing
shelves, organizing shoe rack and other various odd jobs. Student
would assist in helping cashier in regards to packing customer
purchases, covering when cashier needs to use the restroom and
being an extra set of eyes and ears when the store is crowded.
Sometimes volunteer would be needed to assist costumers find or
reach something or bring donations to the back sorting area.
2. In Store Sorters -
A knowledge of fashion a plus but not necessary. Volunteer would
assist in sorting donations to determine what is sell-able and what
gets discarded to our textile-recycling partner. We only sell items
in very good to excellent condition so a discerning eye is
necessary. Sorters would work during opening hours for store in the
3. Fundraising Coordinator / Event Planner-
Organizational skills and attention to detail a must. Student
would be responsible for concepting fundraisers ideas for St Mary's
Advocates Thrift Store. Fundraising must be appropriate for a
non-profit organization. Concepting would require research of
event, budgeting for event, detailing execution of event and
presenting to the board. Once approved by St. Mary's Advocate
Board, the student would be required to assist in executing the
fundraiser along with current volunteers. Student would take charge
of helping organizing & promoting event by spreading local
awareness through online avenues, St. Mary's Advocates website,
fliers and partnering with other local organizations to create a
successful fundraising campaign. Most work will be from
4. Visual Merchandising: Window Display & Category Merchandising
A knowledge of fashion and an eye for store window design
helpful. Student would re-work and organize store window to have
the most desirable items showcased to attract customers. Student
would work with back room sorters to find the most desirable
items/clothing to showcase. Student would work during store

Create a powerful online marketing campaign as to why people
should shop at St. Mary's Advocates Thrift Store! We need more
people shopping here to keep up with the amount of donations we
receive. Student will create and execute a successful online &
off-line marketing campaign designed to bring more customers into
the store. Secondary target of campaign would be to acquire more
volunteers to keep the store open longer.
5b. Marketing / PR -
Execute a marketing and PR program to increase store awareness
to drive shopper traffic. Responsibility would include research,
target market data, knowledge of social media, utilizing resources
with little to no cost. Student would work closely with our current
social media administrator.
