As Legal Counsel, you will be responsible for assisting with a
range of privacy, data protection and security-related matters as
well as drafting and negotiating agreements with providers and
partners in a wide variety of cutting-edge technology services and
products. You will report directly to Legal Director - Technology
and Privacy and provide support to Associate General Counsel /
You will handle technology agreements, such as SaaS, on-premises
software and hardware license and purchase agreements, managed
services and technology support agreements, telecommunications
agreements, and other related agreements; as well as a wide array
of commercial agreements for education services and publishing
clients. Another key part of the role involves advising the Company
on privacy, data protection and security related matters, drafting
and negotiating DPAs and related documentation for Wiley’s various
business units, and staying current on privacy law with the ability
to translate laws and regulations into pragmatic forms, policies
and procedures that enable business objectives. In addition, you
will advise clients regarding contractual rights and duties,
matters of contract interpretation, and pre-litigation dispute
resolution. These varied responsibilities will give you the
opportunity to establish subject matter expertise and also hone a
broad range of skills while you advocate for Wiley’s important
business and operations requirements.
· We require a minimum of four (4) years experience (at a law
firm or in-house legal department) of strong experience advising
clients on data privacy issues with knowledge of global privacy
laws including GDPR and CCPA; as well as drafting and negotiating
agreements for the purchase or license of technology products
· Juris Doctorate (JD).
· NY or NJ Bar Admission.
Experience with privacy in publishing, online behavioral
advertising and marketing a plus.
Experience with data breach laws and incident response a
