worth paying for. About the Role: The New York Times is looking for
an Engineering Manager to join the Data Platform mission to lead
the Analytics Environment team. The team establishes and maintains
a robust, secure analytics and data prototyping environment,
integrating and managing tools, enabling users across NYT to
explore data, gain insights and conduct power analysis. This is a
hybrid role based in our New York City headquarters.
Responsibilities: Lead a team of engineers, promoting a culture of
collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement Hire and
develop engineering talent within the team Oversee the execution of
roadmap items and increase productivity and delivery Collaborate
with product managers and partners to define product requirements
and roadmaps Guide technical decisions and architectural design for
the team's projects Monitor and report on initiative progress and
risks Coach engineers, helping them make an impact while growing in
their careers Maintain budgets, forecasts and a cost attribution
model for your team's cloud solutions Demonstrate support and
understanding of our value of journalistic independence and a
strong commitment to our mission to seek the truth and help people
understand the world You will report to the Senior Director of Data
Platform Basic Qualifications: 5 years of software engineering
experience, with a focus on building or integrating scalable
platforms and data-driven applications 1 years of experience as an
Engineering Manager or 3 years in a technical leadership role
managing execution of programs Experience with vendor-integrated
ecosystems, specifically managing the technical implementation and
maintenance of third-party analytics or BI tools Experience guiding
architectural discussions around how to surface and consume data
Demonstrated understanding of data interfaces, reporting
applications and dashboards for non-technical users Preferred
Qualifications: Expertise in data pipelining and curated data
products, including how to structure data for ease of use in
downstream analytics and exploration Knowledge of modern data
governance, including experience with data contracts, lineage, and
cataloging to ensure the reliability of data reporting Experience
supporting mission-critical reporting environments where data
accuracy and platform uptime are necessary for daily operations
REQ-019407 LI-Hybrid The annual base pay range for this role is
between: $152,000 - $190,000 USD For roles in the U.S., dependent
on your role, you may be eligible for variable pay, such as an
annual bonus and restricted stock. Benefits may include medical,
