  • share by email Role Summary:This position will partner with the SVP US Higher Education Sales & Marketing to deliver financial insight, analysis and support while overseeing a cost base of approximately $100 million.Collaboration, partnership and active stakeholder management are the basis for success in this role. It is essential to thrive in an evolving environment, work to promote innovation and continuously improve efficiency and sustainable growth.Reporting to the VP Finance of US Higher Education, you will help shape Pearson's overall financial profile, specifically relating to our HE Sales & Marketing organization and play a part in building the team's community and culture.Key Responsibilities:
    • Develop meaningful analytics and reporting for Sales, Marketing & Finance department leaders
    • Lead the financial budgeting and forecasting cycles for the Sales & Marketing teams
    • Support month-end close activities including variance analysis and corporate-level reporting packages
    • Partner with department leaders and HR on headcount planning, including tracking of new hires, transfers, and attrition
    • Maintain the details behind the forecast by department and spend areas within the Oracle Hyperion Planning tool
    • Collaborate with other finance business partners to drive process improvements and standardize reporting
    • Work closely with Sales and Marketing Leaders, along with their team, to provide insights and support to the decision-making process
    • Partner with Marketing and Accounting teams to ensure month-end accruals and timing of expenses are captured accurately
    • Analyze major areas of spend (e.g. Sales Commissions, Marketing Programs, Events and Outsource Agreements/Consultants) to understand top-line return and prioritize and plan investment decisions in collaboration with senior management
    • Develop financial modeling to measure investment and ROI for Marketing campaigns
    • Develop monthly reporting packages, business reviews and Marketing KPI reporting to leadership teams
    • Develop monthly financial presentations for leadership, effectively communicating financial results and performance to financial forecast and budget
    • Provide insightful financial analysis and strategic insight to cross-functional teams
    • Identify opportunities to leverage technology/systems to automate manual reporting and compilation processes
    • Create ad-hoc financial analysis for business leadership
    • Partner with business partners to ensure accurate and timely project reportingSkills Required:
      • Must live local to NYC metropolitan area (Hoboken based hybrid working model)
      • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field
      • 3+ years' experience in business financial analysis or other relevant experience
      • Experience in financial statements (income statement, balance sheet & cash flow statement) modeling and analysis
      • Intermediate to advanced level skills with Microsoft Office programs, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, and Outlook
      • Prior experience with Oracle, Hyperion Essbase/Smartview and Planning a huge plus
      • Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills, with the ability to interface with Corporate Executives, Business Management, and functional groups
      • Superior analytical and problem-solving skills
      • Understanding of cost benefit analysis as it relates to investment/project measurement
      • Ability to effectively collaborate with and support cross-functional teams
      • Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment where self-motivation and initiative are critical to success
      • Ability to establish priorities, meet deadlines, and concentrate on detailed information in a fast-paced demanding work environment
