About the Role:

We are looking for a corporate strategy professional to work in a dynamic, mission driven organization whose aim is to drive human potential by empowering the research knowledge ecosystem.

Reporting to the VP Product Strategy and Partnerships, the Senior Manager, Enterprise Strategy will work as part of a talented team supporting corporate strategy, corporate development, and innovation to drive the articulation, implementation, and evolution of Wiley's enterprise-wide strategy.

This a critical, high-profile, and influential strategy team with visibility to the office of the CEO. Furthermore, our work often involves partnering with the business units and leading functional teams to conduct research, analyze internal and market data, and iterate on articulating strategies and framing investments.

Part of a small team, it will be up to you to manage and prioritize your various responsibilities as well as your time. You will work independently and manage virtual teams across the organization with guidance available for complex situations.

You will synthesize competitor playbooks, follow research funders, and understand customer segments. You will write crisp bullet points on why a development matter and what it means to our strategy. You will be obsessed with what's happening with the trends and forces shaping global research, education and scholarly communication and network with colleagues and external contacts to keep up with the latest market developments.

You will gather and package data and insights to inform executive decision making, and work on strategy updates for Wiley's senior management, board of directors and investors.

You will work alongside business leaders on acquisitions, which includes target identification, business case development, partnering with the corporate development (M&A) team, managing diligence, and post-merger implementation. Recent acquisitions include Hindawi, Knowledge Unlatched, Mthree, The Learning House, Knewton and Zybooks.

How you will make an impact:

  • Generating and reporting on quantitative analytics and qualitative insights on how to improve the business and inform strategic decision-making.
  • Ensure the strategy team and Wiley is on top of key market and competitive trends by being a subject matter expert. You will do this by gathering and assessing market intelligence through stakeholder interviews, market outreach and desk research.
  • Project manage small to medium-sized project teams from plan to execution.
  • Support multi-year strategic planning processes for one or more business units.
  • Support the preparation of Board of Director and Executive Leadership Team briefings.
  • Supporting the acquisition strategy and implementation from sourcing of opportunities, to evaluating and executing them in close collaboration with corporate development.

    What we look for:
    • Bachelor's degree plus advanced degree desired, or equivalent work experience.
    • Minimum of 2+ years of relevant work experience in management consulting\/strategy\/or strategic marketing, or in the education or scholarly communications industry.
    • Ability to work independently with minimal guidance.
    • Superb communication skills, the confidence and credibility to share your perspective, and a data and market-centric orientation to influence others.
    • Technical skills ability to conduct research, find and analyze data, and develop perspectives on nuanced markets.
    • Project management skills and agility to manage multiple projects and deliverables.
    • The curiosity and stamina to work through a problem and frame the key drivers to work towards a solution.
    • Highly-organized, efficient time-management and ability to learn quickly.
