Position Title: Manager, Category Strategy & PlanningLocation: Hoboken/Atlanta/Charlotte/RemoteReports to: Sr. Manager, Category Strategy & PlanningThe Manager, Category Strategy & Planning will work closely with cross functional teams in the development of Cookware category stories, focusing on driving overall category growth. Leveraging syndicated data, shopper and consumer insights, category and industry trends, will develop comprehensive category strategies focused on shopper centricity, enabling greater sell-thru and market share gains. This position works as a strategic thought leader, imparting knowledge of the category to drive profitable business results. Duties and responsibilities include the following: Brand Champion: Mastery Category Understanding

  • Act as subject matter expert in assigned sub-category/overall category and provide thought leadership to internal constituents as well as external customers
  • Serve as the expert on the use of syndicated and household panel data for sub-category/total category to support/contribute in the development of strategies and tactics
  • Monitor competitive landscape in sub-category/ttl category and create recommended actions plans
  • Identify and disseminate Category Management best practices
  • Contributes to 3 year Commercialization Category StrategyData Analytics & Shopper Understanding
    • Complete knowledge of data resources & analytics to monitor +/- to POS/share - able to identify causal and recommend action plan
    • Understand sub-category purchase drivers, trip missions, shopper need states, etc. and liaise with Brand Development and CMI to lead executional strategies
    • Provide sub-strategic category direction based on syndicated and HH panel data
    • Provide input into sub-category definition and product hierarchy and ensure consistency across data providers Multi-channel Experience
      • Extensive knowledge of customer/channel insights and perspective of the various channel dynamics for sub-category/ttl category
      • Monitor channel shifting and the associated trends reflected in the marketplace & develop action plan
      • Manage Channel conflict of sub-category, recommending guardrails Manage Innovation Pipeline
        • Partner with Brand Development to manage pipeline of innovation, bringing both a customer and consumer perspective to the development process
        • Use knowledge of customer and consumer to create optimal assortments and channel exclusives
        • Omni-channel approach - Build in-store and .com requirements for a successful go-to-market into launch development plans
        • Understand impacts of innovation to the sub-category P&L & own the impact to Customer P&L Customer/Category Strategy:Customer selling presentations
          • Participate in development of annual GTM category selling story
          • Lead Channel specific variation of annual GTM category selling story
          • Ensure Best in Class selling stories to achieve both brand and retailer objectives Annual Customer planning
            • Lead the development of customer playbooks for key customers- setting distribution/shelving/merchandising/promo goals
            • Maintain 18 month rolling Promotional calendar for assigned customer/channel responsibility
            • Approves customer specific promotional needs - items/prgm/display
            • Develop customer specific promotional needs - items/prgm/display Oversees National promotional calendar - approves all pgrm details
            • Conduct ROI analysis of top 10 events for assigned customer/channel responsibility - make recommendation for prgm improvements
            • Leads National promotional calendar - recommending all prgm detailsLine review planning & oversight
              • Lead line review process for key accounts
              • Shape Pricing/Promo guardrails to ensure profitability growth
              • Mix management
              • Ensure Best in Class selling stories to achieve both brand and retailer objectives P&L Management
                • Develop Pricing/Promo guardrails to ensure profitability growth
                • Lead Mix management - Sub-category & Customer
                • Lead customer P&Ls, annual trade funding & overall tracking of profit goals
                • Contribute to budgeting process for customer & trade funding builds
                • Establishes List and Bracket Pricing for sub-categoryQualifications
                  • Bachelors degree (emphasis in business, marketing, finance or related field), advanced degree preferred
                  • 3-7 years of experience working with a leading CPG company (Trade or Channel Marketing, Category Management)
                  • Demonstrated knowledge of Category Management philosophies, tools and processes and proven record of success.
                  • Strategic thinking, self-starter with ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously with aggressive deadlines
                  • Advanced analytical skills and computer software proficiency (e.g. Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, etc.)
                  • Strong familiarity with syndicated data, measures and software (e.g. NPD, IRI, , etc.) Additional Skills
                    • Experience working with Amazon, pureplay retailers, and DTC preferred.
                    • Build strong sustainable business relationships at all levels and functions of the organization and with customers and customer teams
                    • Excellent communication skills - both written and verbal
                    • Multi-channel experience and shopper understanding.
                    • Direct and perform analysis across a wide variety of category business issues and make fact-based recommendations
                    • Must be able to link business objectives with winning growth strategies
                    • Convey complex issues brilliantly with excellent communication and presentation skills
                    • Analyze and break down complex business issues, identifying the root cause and recommending clear, actionable next steps; strong communication and presentation skills required
