Management Assistant DirectorOur practice has more than 370
full-time professionals who have an average of 17 years of proven
experience. More than half of our professionals hold advanced
degrees and credentials, including LLMs, JDs, MBAs, CPAs, and EAs.

opportunityThe Fiduciary/Trust Tax Services (the "Practice")
Strategic Initiatives Management Assistant Director (the "Assistant
Director") manages teams of senior-level tax professionals and
subject-matter specialists to complete high value initiatives
sponsored by Practice leadership that are deemed essential to the
operational effectiveness and growth of the business. As a business
that serves a broad client base of more than 125 financial services
organizations delivering tax compliance services for more than
400,000 wealth management and trust accounts annually,
practitioners require specialized support to effectively and
efficiently manage work-flow and client relationships while
complying with firm policies and procedures. Further, to drive
process improvement supporting profitable growth requires a
business model that is poised to capitalize on global resources and
emerging technology. The Assistant Director works collaboratively
with Practice leadership, and EY infrastructure to develop,
implement, and manage an efficient infrastructure model.The
Assistant Director develops and manages project plans incorporating
insights from Practice leadership as well as key stakeholders from
across service lines. This professional is also capable of
identifying "business culture" issues and working collaboratively
with Practice leadership to develop and execute plans to resolve
such issues. The Assistant Director is proficient in collaborating
with Practice leadership to clearly define issues and lead
development and execution of solutions to resolve those issues. The
Assistant Director will be responsible for planning, managing and
driving progress on multiple initiatives/projects and is
accountable for managing to completion the projects he or she leads
and effecting realization of the goals and objections of each
initiative. In collaboration with Practice leadership the Assistant
Director ensures that each initiative receives appropriate project
management support calibrated to the goals of the initiative and
the needs of the team.Your key responsibilitiesLeadership/domain
knowledge
- Partner with executive sponsors to define priorities and carry
out tasks of relevance to the business and contribute insights to
improve deliverables/outcomes
- Collaborate to develop each initiative's scope, goals, and
deliverables in cooperation with Practice leadership and subject
matter specialists from across the Practice and within supporting
EY groups (e.g., IT, Knowledge, TQ&RM, Learning, Finance, and
Brand, Marketing and Communication)
- Educate key stakeholders on the business purpose of the project
and how their work will contribute to successful execution of
Practice strategic priorities
- Manage projects/initiatives while clarifying objectives,
priorities, roles, responsibilities, timelines and scope changes to
support team members with timely and effectively meeting deadlines
and providing quality deliverables
- Conduct routine meetings with sponsors to provide updates on
status, and provide reporting that demonstrates progress toward key
objectives and provides information on measurable outcomes that
indicate the success of the initiative as compared to desired
goalsProject Management
- Draft the charter and work plan(s)
- Define, create and maintain project documentation
- Develop and maintain relationships with project stakeholders,
manage stakeholder expectations
- On behalf of the initiative sponsor, structure and drive
projects forward to timely and efficiently achieve the desired
results
- Autonomously manage day-to-day project execution including
assigning specific tasks and consult/escalate to resolve issues in
collaboration with Practice leadership
- Conduct regular project updates and provide status reports to
Practice leadershipAnalytical/Decision Making Responsibilities:
- Ability to make recommendations to support sponsors with making
complex decisions related to multiple parts of an
initiative/project
- Ability to build relationships to navigate across functions and
service lines to gain cooperation and commitment on
projects/initiatives
- Assess alternatives and recommend solutions when program or
project roadblocks are encountered
- Encourage an innovation mindset while working collaboratively
to help team members refine and build out ideas and solutions
- Help colleagues/works groups to identify and resolve sources of
conflict
- Collaborate with key stakeholders to inform the tailoring of
tools, methodologies, processes, and practices to specific
requirements of initiatives/ projects
- For example, considering feasibility and firm culture, gather
information to support decision-making as to whether a challenge is
best addressed with a technology solution, communications,
training, or a combination of those disciplines and the ability to
work seamlessly within those disciplines to deliver a quality
solution
- Operate autonomously on behalf of the sponsor (when necessary)
to drive the initiative forwardSkills and attributes for success
- Change management experience including developing messaging,
communications, training and measurement
