Digital marketing (including paid search, online merchandising, online media, email and more) is a key part of Newell Brands' media mix. It is also a quickly evolving space. In order for Newell Brands to compete effectively in the market we must continue to enhance and improve both the reach and effectiveness of these channels. This role will be a key player in the way that Newell Brands products appear and are marketed across digital media channels. The VP, Digital Marketing is responsible for Pan-Newell Brands media platform ownership supporting the marketing teams embedded within each brand. Successful performance in the role is measured by a combination of sales growth, marketing performance and efficiency of marketing spend. This role will report to the President, eCommerce and Digital. Accountabilities

  • Partner with key stakeholders (Brand Owners, Marketing Teams, Sales Owners, etc.) to prioritize and plan marketing activities across all US Brands and Retail customers (e.g., Amazon, Walmart, Target), ensuring connectivity across Brands/Business Units which includes designing, developing, and implementing processes for disparate brands.
  • Primary point of contact with Retail Media Networks (e.g., Amazon Advertising, Walmart Connect, Roundel). Responsible for coordinating and negotiating media JBPs and developing central capabilities to maximize platform performance. Responsible for Pan-Newell tentpole events (e.g., Holiday, Prime Day)
  • Manage key digital marketing execution, including a mix of agency management in in-house execution.
  • Provide both thought leadership and technical expertise to energize the broader team and improve digital marketing reach and marketing efficiency. This includes building a learning agenda and running a steady stream of tests and experiments.
  • Find ways to leverage marketing tactics to both increase the number of buyers as well as to increase purchasing for existing buyers.
  • Owns the look and feel of the way that Newell Brands products appear on retail eCommerce sites and is continuously looking for ways to improve product traffic generation including discovery and conversion.
  • Help identify new opportunity areas to drive growth and improved profitability
  • Communicate the overall marketing strategy with Brand Owners, and Newell Brands leadership ensuring that key stakeholders are up to date on ongoing activities and results.
  • Partners with marketing leaders across business units to execute in-market opportunities ensuring the right level of support
  • Drive best practices in digital marketing to key stakeholders across Newell Brands.
  • Drive critical thinking and understanding in key stakeholders to influence the agenda and approach relative to competitors' behaviors, capabilities, and positioning
  • Serves as critical member of the eCommerce and Digital leadership team to define and drive the critical culture and talent mindset required to complete and win in this space
  • Serve as critical thought partner to elevate the strategy and identify new opportunities within and beyond the defined innovation opportunities Key Skills/Experience Required
    • 12+ years of experience in related technology and/or online marketing roles in a complex environment with multiple constituencies with at least 5 years specifically in the eCommerce / Digital space
    • BA required (MBA strongly preferred)
    • In-depth experience with online marketing channels (paid search, email, online marketing), search analytics, web analytics
    • Expertise in critical methodologies and metrics for improving marketing performance to drive overall thought leadership in this space
    • Track record of evangelizing and driving the best-in-class online marketing practices
    • Prior experience in CPG or retail/eCommerce business preferred
    • Ability to effectively simplify and communicate complex techniques or practices into a format that is easily understood by key decision makers and provide leadership to help cultivate this capability
    • Ability and passion to drive organization-wide education regarding unique practices and methodology to improve online/digital marketing.
    • Highly analytical, motivated, decisive thought leader with excellent managerial skills.
    • Strong ability to influence and work through others to effectively navigate matrixed organization while ensuring that necessary stakeholders are informed
    • Ability to manage / drive agenda and thinking with functional reports in a matrixed and virtual environment
    • Able to influence leaders within and beyond eCommerce and Digital team in a virtual environment
    • High level of intellectual curiosity and interest in technology trends and advancements
    • High character and integrity, and acts in line with a clear and visible set of values and beliefs.
    • Strong written & verbal communication skills confirming an ability to educate and influence management and senior leaders to act in a desired manner.
