Responsibilities The Director, Patient Access is responsible for overseeing the in-patient/out-patient and emergency admissions functions, bed assignments, and completion of preliminary paperwork for entering patients. Reviews department operations to ensure compliance with applicable standards, promoting strong customer service values and satisfaction. Works with medical, nursing and accounting staff to ensure appropriate patient placement. Confirms that all insurance benefits coverage meets standards of admission as dictated by hospital policy. Formulates policies and procedures and collaborates in the development of the operating and capital budget. * Oversees, directs and guides the organization towards achieving current & future goals. * Ensures that all organizational activities and operations comply with local, state and federal regulations, JCAHO standards and laws governing healthcare operations. * Demonstrates leadership effectiveness in managing interpersonal relationships and managing self. * Contributes to the development of the departmental budget and actively facilitates the achievement of budgeted goals and cost objectives and the on-going evaluation of results. * Evaluates departmental needs to assure established quality patient services and makes recommendations to the Vice President. * Creates an environment that promotes work force recruitment, retention and development within assigned areas to achieve and maintain quality services and positive employee relations. * Directs, coordinates, and controls the department(s) according to established guidelines and in compliance with all regulatory bodies balancing customer interest with financial requirements. Qualifications Bachelor's degree 3-5 years of leadership experience required, 5-8 years of related work experience required Certified Healthcare Access Manager (CHAM) or Certified Healthecare Financial Processional (CHFP) required Excellent organizational and follow-up skills, ability to lead and manage a team. Ability to use problem solving, critical thinking and priority setting skills. Polished communication skills.
