-- What can you expect? We are looking for someone to join and lead our remote-first Security Operations Center (SOC) as the Manager of the Security Operations Center. As the Manager of the SOC, you will be responsible for maintaining and growing the operational standards in the Security Operations Center. You will be an advocate for our SOC analysts, ensuring they are being given the tools, training, and time to succeed in their roles. In this role, you will also be responsible for ensuring the wins and challenges of the SOC are communicated effectively, using data and metrics from various timeframes. Additionally, you will be responsible for collaborating in several Global Information Security projects and efforts that are critical to progressing the security posture of Marsh McLennan.
-- In this role you will be responsible for:

  • Managing and designing operational metrics for executive reporting, and identifying key improvements that can be made to existing workflows based on data
    --
  • Leading and manage a 24x7x365 Security Operations Center core activities, including the identification and triage of security incidents
  • Ensuring incident identification, triage, response, reporting, communication, and monitoring of our 24x7x365 SOC function occurs within expected timeframes
    --
  • Developing and revising processes to strengthen operational standards and recommending changes to improve performance and effectiveness
  • Leading overall design, improvements, and creations to team documentation
    --
  • Supporting other security functions and teams to ensure the holistic implementation of security controls, technologies, practices, and programs
  • Briefing leadership on incident trends and major events on a weekly, monthly, and quarterly timeframe
  • Supporting innovation and growth opportunities for all members of the team

  • Maintaining an advanced knowledge of global threat trends, known threat actors, common tactics, techniques, and procedures (TTPs), and emerging security technologies
    --
  • Providing guidance, training, and mentorship to Global Cyber Defense team members
    --
  • Supporting 24x7 operations by managing appropriate staff scheduling and on-call rotation, and assisting in ongoing incidents during non-standard hours

      • Undergraduate degree in Computer Science (CS), Computer Information Systems (CIS), other related degrees, or equivalent experience
        --
      • 5+ years of information security experience in defensive operations roles, on teams such as a Security Operations Center (SOC,) Incident Response, or similar operations focused teams
        --
      • 2+ years of management experience, with some experience a 24x7 team environment
        --
      • Demonstrated proficiency in verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to communicate security concepts to both technical and executive audiences--
        --
      • Strong leadership skills, with experience mentoring, developing, and coaching direct and indirect reports
        --
      • Demonstrated ability to collaborate with other security focused teams and non-security focused teams
        --
      • Familiarity with security technologies and alerts, such as intrusion prevention and detection systems, web proxies, SIEM, SOAR, EDR, firewalls, web application scanner, vulnerability scanners, forensics tools, open-source tools, or other security technologies
        --
      • Advanced knowledge of common attacks, current threats, threat actors, and industry trends
        --
      • Demonstrated experience implementing common security frameworks and models for communicating risk and security posture, such as MITRE ATT&CK, Lockheed Martin Cyber Kill Chain, The Diamond Model of Intrusion Analysis and NIST Cybersecurity Framework
