Job Description:
Columbia Engineering is pleased to invite applications for a
tenure-track or tenured faculty position in the Department of Civil
Engineering & Engineering Mechanics (CEEM) at Columbia University
in the City of New York. Applications at all ranks, including
assistant professor, associate professor, and full professor, will
be considered.
The CEEM Department welcomes applications in the field of
computational intelligence for the fabrication and automation of
civil infrastructure. Representative areas of interest include (i)
additive manufacturing of civil infrastructures, including but not
limited to 3D printing of concrete and reinforced concrete or
composites, additive manufacturing for energy applications,
including wind turbines and other structural components, (ii)
automation and optimization of construction and fabrication (e.g.,
robotic construction and excavation, data-driven controls, building
envelopes, planning and analytics of built environments), and (iii)
design and manufacturing of architectured materials.
Candidates must have a Ph.D. or its professional equivalent by the
starting date of the appointment. Applicants at the Assistant
Professor and Associate Professor without tenure levels must have
the potential to do pioneering research and to teach effectively.
Applicants for this position at the tenured level (Associate or
Full Professor) must also have a demonstrated record of outstanding
research accomplishments, excellent teaching credentials, and
established leadership in the field. The department is especially
interested in qualified candidates who can contribute, through
their research, teaching, and/or service, to the diversity and
excellence of the academic community.
The successful candidate is expected to contribute to the
advancement of the Computational and Data-Driven Engineering
Mechanics field and to the department by developing an original and
leading externally funded research program, and to contribute to
the undergraduate and graduate educational mission of the CEEM

The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based
on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental
budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses,
specialty, and training. The above hiring range represents the
University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of
