Job Description Job Description Salary: $51,000 (based on
experience and education) Behavioral Health Associates (BHA) is an
educational organization. We offer an academic learning environment
integrated with behavioral support services for students diagnosed
with emotional/behavioral disorders to empower the students in
overcoming challenges and creating new stories for their lives. We
currently have an opening for a full-time Secondary Life Skills,
Special Education Teacher. POSITION GOAL Provide instruction and
support to secondary students in developing the practical life,
social, and vocational skills necessary for increased independence.
The student population can vary based on the needs of the
individual students. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Teaching
a small group of students and individuals inside and outside of the
classroom. Preparing and executing lessons to complete learning
objectives. Assessing the students work done in class. Developing,
adapting, and implementing education plans (IEPS) and teaching
methods that are suitable for each student. Using special tools and
equipment provided to stimulate an interesting and engaging
learning environment, as well as supporting students emotional
needs. Developing materials and lessons for functional skills
(e.g., cooking, cleaning, laundry, and other activities of daily
living). Coordinating with administration to create individualized
learning plans for the student. Quarterly updating parents/home
districts on their students progress. Tracking the
academic/behavioral goal performance of students for signs of
progress. Working with student one-on-one when they need extra help
or attention. Establishing and enforcing rules of behavior for
students in the classroom. Establishing and communicating clear
objectives for lessons, units, and projects. Adapting teaching
methods and materials to meet the interests and learning styles of
each student. Maintain working relationship with Instructional
Assistant in classroom to complete daily behavior sheet and provide
daily communication to parent/guardian. Collaborate with related
services to include Speech Therapy, Occupational Therapy, and
Physical Therapy. Collaborate and coordinate with BHA's Career
Employment Staff. Perform other duties as assigned as assigned by
Administration. ADDITIONAL SKILLS Ability to build positive
relationships with students, parents, co-workers and outside
staff/organizations. Ability to work well with students from
different backgrounds who have different abilities. Well-organized
and self-driven to devise and adopt new techniques for teaching and
keeping the class orderly. Ability to manage the classroom despite
challenging behavior. Strong written and communication skills.
Compassionate, kind and patient with children. Excellent leader and
mentor for students. Strong attention to detail and an inquisitive
mind to understand each individual student. Strong teaching
abilities. Strong conflict resolution skills. Adapting teach
methods and materials to meet the interests and learning styles of
students. Proficient active listening skills to understand and
adapt to students various learning/emotional/behavioral needs.
QUALIFICATIONS Bachelors Degree in Special Education, preferred.
Valid PA Special Education Teaching Certification (K-12) Experience
with students with ASD. NCPI training is beneficial, but not
required. Restorative practice training is beneficial, but not
required. Ability to develop and maintain positive working
relationships with staff and leadership team, while maintaining
professional boundaries. Positively represent and promote BHA
services to outside organizations. Maintain confidentiality in all
matters, including the dissemination of information regarding
program development, staffing, and billing. Work both independently
and as a team. Communicate effectively utilizing both written and
oral communication. Basic computer literacy with Microsoft/Office
365 (Word, Excel, Teams, SharePoint, etc.). Effectively utilize
technology for communication and reporting needs. BENEFITS Full
