Job Description Job Description Job Summary An Automotive Technician diagnoses, repairs, and maintains vehicles, performing tasks from oil changes and tire rotations to complex engine and electrical system fixes, using diagnostic tools and technical manuals to ensure repairs meet manufacturer standards. Responsibilities Identify vehicle problems using computerized diagnostic equipment, test components, and interpret technical manuals. Fix or replace worn parts (brakes, sensors, belts, etc.), rebuild assemblies, and perform major/minor repairs on engines, transmissions, steering, and HVAC systems. Perform routine services like oil changes, fluid checks, filter replacements, and tire rotations. Explain problems and recommend repairs to customers, and accurately log all work, parts, and hours for repair orders and warranty claims. Road test vehicles to confirm the diagnosis and ensure repairs are successful. Diagnose and repair vehicles, including preventive maintenance, state inspections, repair to suspension brakes, electrical, with safety as the top priority. Use effective interpersonal skills to maintain positive working relationships with team members, all Rob’s Automotive and Collision personnel and external vendors. Contribute to the goals of the shop, leadership team and the Company as a whole. Ensure proper documentation is completed including repair orders, PM Sheets and time cards, as well as Courtesy Check Sheets. Abide by all Company policies and safety rules and assist in maintaining a clean, safe work environment. Report any unsafe Equipment or Conditions. Be a positive role model for all team members providing support and enthusiasm – creating a professional, positive work environment. Work additional hours in accordance with business needs and other demands of the position. Adheres to all Company’s procedures as outlined in the Employee Handbook. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing with both internal and external customers. Updating and using relevant knowledge by keeping up to date technically and applying new job knowledge to job. Able to examine products, equipment, and work performed for defects, problems or errors.A Ability to plan, organize and execute repairs to meet performance deadlines. Able to keep work area organized, clean and clear of hazards. Able to read and understand technical diagrams, estimates and manufacturer specifications. Be at least eighteen years of age. A valid, clean driver's license is mandatory for performing test drives. Pass a motor vehicle report and possess an acceptable safe driving record. Pass a criminal background check and drug screen. Able to pass subsequent Random Drug Testing. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distant vision and the ability to adjust focus. Demonstrate the ability to hear and accurately interpret mechanical, technical and business information in an environment subject to noise, vibration, etc. Perform all work safely in a fast-paced work environment.
